Leverkusen Bayer on par with “Roma” (2:2) in the second leg of the Europa League semi-final and set a European record for the number of matches without defeat.
Leverkusen are undefeated for 49 consecutive matches. The previous record belonged to Benfica of Lisbon, unbeaten in 48 matches in all competitions between 1963 and 1965.
Bayer still has a chance to win three trophies this season. Leverkusen won the German championship ahead of schedule, will play Kaiserslautern in the German Cup final and Italian Atalanta will be Xabi Alonso’s side’s opponent in the Europa League final.
