Yuri left Rukh this spring, and the club from the Sumy region recently parted ways with Shapovalov
FC Trostyanets officially announced his appointment as head coach of the team Yuri Bakalov.
“Trostyanets has a very ambitious project. It is important that the city and the club are being restored after the occupation and everything that the Russians did here. Now the last three games of this Second League championship will be the beginning of preparation for the new season, because the team faces high tasks,” the specialist emphasized.
The position has been vacant since the end of April, when the Second League club parted ways with Valery Shapovalov. For the last two weeks, these duties have been performed by ex-assistant head coach Vladimir Prokopinenko.
The previous place of work of 58-year-old Bakalov was Rukh, where he served as director of the Academy (since January 2023) and coach of the U-19 team (since January 2024). In March, the specialist left the Lviv club.
Previously, Yuri (in the second half of the 2019/20 season) worked with the first team of Rukh. In addition to her, he coached such teams as Arsenal (Kyiv), FC Slavutich, Zugdidi (Georgia), Skala U-19 (Stry), PFC Lviv and LNZ.
Trostyanets ranks 12th (third from bottom) in the Second League table. The team from the Sumy region has not won for more than six months – since the end of October 2023. Bakalov will make his debut at the new club tomorrow, April 11, in a home match against Chaika.
