Pioli’s team breaks a six-match streak without a win
Milan beat on home field with a big score Cagliari in the 36th round Serie A – 5:1.
The Rossoneri had not won six matches in a row and took full advantage of the opportunity to end this series. However, Cagliari resisted for a long time, drying up the game. The hosts managed to open the scoring towards the end of the half: Ismael Bennacer successfully guessed the rebound from the goalkeeper in the center of the penalty area and hit the unprotected goal.
After the break the game finally opened up. Christian Pulisic, after a subtle pass from Rafael Leau, realized a one-on-one opportunity, but Cagliari immediately revived the intrigue – Nathan Nides masterfully responded to Gabriele Zappa’s cross.
A few minutes later, Tijani Reynders hit a killer long-range shot into the corner. Soon, Claudio Ranieri’s team missed a magnificent chance – Marco Sportiello and the crossbar saved the hosts from a goal in a few seconds.
After some time, Milan mercilessly finished off his opponent. Leau scored himself, running towards the goal after a pass from Bennacer, after which Noah Okafor assisted Pulisic for a double.
Milan secured second place. Cagliari remained 15th, but based on the results of the round it can get very close to the relegation zone.
