Captain Rukh – about the match with Obolon and the team’s tasks at the end of the season
Captain Roc Denis Pidgursky commented on the draw score in the away match with Obolon in the 28th round, and also talked about team tasks at the end of the season.
— Denis, why didn’t your team succeed in the first half in the capital of Ukraine?
— It’s difficult to answer right away, without delay, as they say. It is clear that the players of both teams wanted to win, but we lost many duels. We didn’t succeed in everything. I noticed that for the third game in a row we were losing the first half.
— The difficult first half – were these your mistakes or the merit of Obolon?
— I can only talk about our team. It is clear that we are all looking at the standings. This probably puts pressure on the young guys. Yes, we don’t have a goal to get into the European Cups, but all our players want to play there. Therefore, now we cannot show the game that we demonstrated throughout the season.
— What is the reason for the substitution in the first half of Karabin?
“There was a collision there, and now he is feeling unwell.” He’s a little lost – he doesn’t understand anything. On the standard I didn’t know who to play against. During the break he says: “Why is everyone in the locker room?” I wish him good health.
—During the break, did you have a raised conversation?
– No. It’s just that the coaching staff pointed out our mistakes, and we restructured a little. We didn’t play our usual football. We didn’t play head-to-head. Obolon entered the field with two strikers, and I had to help our central defenders. In the second half we rebuilt and took the initiative a little. We do better in the second halves, and I don’t know why this happens. We will continue to train.
— A set piece at the goal of Obolon, in the 58th minute, when you hit the post – is this your best opportunity to score a goal?
– Maybe yes. I can’t score from set pieces. We need to break this curse, there is no other way to say it. With my anthropometric data, it is necessary to implement such points.
— Did Slyubik’s absence affect your defensive play?
– I wouldn’t say. We have all high-level football players, but who starts the match on the bench.
— Denis, there are only two rounds left before the end of the UPL season. Can you get into the Conference League?
“Our task in every game when we enter the football field is to win. Of course, we want to get to Europe. For our young team, this is the first such season in the elite division. If we get into the Conference League, it will be a good result for our team. To do this, you need to be a little more stable and not lose points where you don’t need to. Due to our youth and lack of experience, we lost a lot of points. We could have already resolved all our issues, but everything will be decided in the 30th round.
