Khatskevich: Stop getting involved in adventures. It’s time to go home, I have offers from Ukraine

Khatskevich’s last place of work was Zaglebie Sosnowiec

Former player and coach of Kyiv Dynamo Alexander Khatskevich announced his return to Ukraine and employment in one of the Ukrainian clubs.

“I plan to return to Ukraine at the end of May – beginning of June. It’s time to go home. There are proposals. I’ll stop getting involved in adventures,” said the coach.

Earlier, information appeared that the 50-year-old Belarusian could become the new head coach of the Lithuanian club – Kauno Zalgiris has allegedly already held negotiations with the specialist. However, the coach denied his move to Lithuania.

Khatskevich’s last place of work was Zaglebie Sosnowiec, where the coach came in January of this year, concluding an agreement until the end of the season. The ex-football player and coach of Dynamo Kyiv replaced Arthur Derbin.

However, in April the parties stopped cooperation. The catalyst for the coach’s dismissal was the situation after the game with Katowice (0:4). At the press conference, Khatskevich said that he did not influence the team’s playing tactics, since during the pre-match setup the players independently, behind closed doors, discussed and adopted the strategy for the game.

Subsequently, it was reported that fans who broke into the team’s training session fought with Khatskevich, but the coach himself stated that he was not injured. Together with the 50-year-old coach, sports director Mikhail Zalewski and coach-analyst Vladimir Arzhanov left the Polish team.

Khatskevich gave seven and a half years of his playing career (1996 – 2004) to Dynamo Kyiv. Subsequently, he coached the main team of Kiev (2012, 2017 – 2019), and also worked with Dynamo-2. For two years in the middle of the last decade he led the Belarusian national team, and also in his career – six matches at the head of the Cypriot Karmiotissa.
