Ukrainian goalkeeper Real Madrid Andrey Lunin informed the club management of his decision to extend his employment agreement.
Lunin will sign a contract until 2029. The contract will also stipulate an increase in wages. The Ukrainian is ready for rivalry and competition with the Belgian Thibaut Courtois and is confident in his abilities after successful performances this season.
Real expects demand for the Ukrainian this summer. The Blancos management, despite the upcoming extension of the contract with Andrei, is ready to consider all proposals for the goalkeeper.
Earlier, Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti announced a systematic rotation of goalkeepers for the next season, given the successful play of Lunin and the recovery from injury of main goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois. Both the coach and management are counting on the Ukrainian goalkeeper, who during the season won competition from Kepa Arrizabalaga, who was loaned from Chelsea to replace Courtois.
Long negotiations between the Madrid team and Lunin provoked an intensification of contenders for the Ukrainian. His four saves helped Ancelotti’s side beat Bayern Munich 2-1 and reach the Champions League final. Courtois played only two matches (both clean sheets), missing almost the entire season due to a knee injury.
In the 2023/2024 Champions League final, Real Madrid will play against Borussia Dortmund, which beat PSG on aggregate. The Champions League final will take place on June 1 in London.
The Madrid club also triumphed in the Spanish Super Cup this season and won La Liga ahead of schedule.
