commentator Roman Naguchev spoke about the hate received after criticizing the Voronezh stadium “torches ”, and also noted the need for a complete reconstruction of the arena.
In June, Naguchev slammed the Fakela Stadium, noting that “this monster” shouldn’t be in the Russian Premier League (RPL). At the end of June, the RFU commission issued a certificate of compliance with the requirements of the standard First category football stadiums at the Central Stadium of the Syndicates. The Voronezh club on July 30 in the match of the third round of the WORLD RPL will host Dynamo Moscow.
– Recently you have been associated with Voronezh. How do you feel when you arrive in this city?
— Yes, none. Business trip to Voronezh. It turns out that my posts have become newsworthy. Otherwise calm attitude. I know Voronezh is a wonderful football city and I had no hatred towards Voronezh. Hayt was only in relation to the stadium, because he was afraid that he would collapse during my report. I hope that won’t happen. In addition, we were promised to show the stadium a day before the start of the match. Of course, I’m ready to watch it.
— How many thousands of messages have you received from Fakel fans?
— Oh, a lot. Lots of hate, also lots of calm messages. They even created a lot of memes about me. My favorite thing is when, like in The Simpsons, I was greeted with torches. That’s very cool.
– In one of the fan audiences, there was a message that the fans were preparing a banner in your honor, did you hear about it?
– It’s good! It’s football folklore, I knew what I was getting into. The more, the better. Either way, Torch fans have every right to do so. They were afraid that the RPL would be taken away from them, they did everything to prevent that from happening. If they prepare a banner on me, then it’s just chic!
— Do you think your position helped to ensure that the reconstruction was completed as soon as possible?
“I think to some extent, yes. That’s why they don’t like journalists: it shows that there’s a hole in the asphalt. Previously, people calmly walked through this hole. But a man came and said, “Aren’t you afraid that someone will fall into this hole? People started to worry. That’s how journalism works: when you report an issue, you get all the hate, not whoever punched that hole. So, yes, I think my post influenced the situation. When the solution to the problem becomes public, much more effort must be made. I believe I did my job well. Nevertheless, I still have concerns, because, to my knowledge, the stadium has not been under reconstruction for 38 years. If something hasn’t been under renovation for that long, it’s impossible to get it to a safe place in two months.
– Cosmetic repairs won’t help here?
— I know there are cracks inside the stadium. I saw different photos. Maybe I’m wrong, maybe it’s not load-bearing structures, but in any case, it’s an old building and it should have been put in order. This is my main concern, because there are already enough stadiums with dramas.
