The meeting between Shakhtar and Vorskla will take place in Rivne
Secretary General UAF Igor Grishchenko commented on the upcoming final Ukrainian Cup between Miner And Vorskloy. Grishchenko announced that the reporting match will be called “Gratitude Match”
“This will be the first final of the Ukrainian Cup that we are holding since the beginning of the full-scale invasion of the aggressor, and we called it the “Match of Gratitude.” Gratitude to the Ukrainian military, who made it possible to hold football competitions at all, allowed us to remember at least part of peaceful life and give positivity to Ukrainians. We want to hold a series of events to thank the defenders of Ukraine.”
“The final will take place in Rivne, a city that today can host the largest number of fans at its stadium due to the presence of shelters near the arena. We hope to carry out everything at a high level. I would like to thank the local authorities, who are involved as much as possible in organizing the match.”
The match will be shown on TV ICTV2. Commentators for the meeting will be Denis Bosyanok and Roman Bebekh. The game will be officiated by a team of referees led by Vitaly Romanov.
The current winner of the Ukrainian Cup is Dynamo, which narrowly beat Zorya in the 2021 final. In the 2021/22 season, the tournament was ended early at the 1/4 final stage due to the full-scale invasion of Russian troops in Ukraine.
In the 2022/23 season, the Ukrainian Cup was not played due to the busy schedule of the Ukrainian championship, matches of the national team and the participation of Ukrainian clubs in European cups.
The game between Shakhtar and Vorskla will take place on May 15 in Rivne at the Avangard stadium. The meeting starts at 19:00.
Rivne will become the ninth city to host the Cup final, after Kyiv (18 times), Kharkov (five times), Dnipro (twice), Sumy, Poltava, Lvov, Zaporozhye and Ternopil.
