Vorskla mentor – about the upcoming match against Shakhtar
Acting head coach Vorskla Sergei Dolgansky shared his opinion about the upcoming finale Ukrainian Cupin which his team will fight with Miner.
“There is an understanding of who and why we are here now. Great respect for the people defending our homeland. This game will be dedicated to them.”
“This final is a large-scale event for a team like Vorskla. This is an event that creates the history of our club. This is an event for the fans and a great motivation for us. It doesn’t matter what happened before. There is only one game that matters and it decides everything.”
“We have everything in order. We count on all the players in the squad.”
“Ukrainian Cup final in 2009? At that time, Shakhtar was the winner of the UEFA Cup, no one gave us a chance. But in such games, courage and the desire to win are important, not the fear of defeat. This is how it was in Vorskla when I played. But this is a completely different story, there are different teams now, so you need to choose different words. It matters a lot what kind of heart you have on the field.”
The final match, called the “Match of Gratitude,” will take place on May 15 in Rivne at the Avangard stadium. The meeting starts at 19:00.
Rivne will become the ninth city to host the Cup final, after Kyiv (18 times), Kharkov (five times), Dnipro (twice), Sumy, Poltava, Lvov, Zaporozhye and Ternopil.
The match will be shown on TV ICTV2. Commentators for the meeting will be Denis Bosyanok and Roman Bebekh. The game will be officiated by a team of referees led by Vitaly Romanov.
The current winner of the Ukrainian Cup is Dynamo, which narrowly beat Zorya in the 2021 final. In the 2021/22 season, the tournament was ended early at the 1/4 final stage due to the full-scale invasion of Russian troops in Ukraine.
In the 2022/23 season, the Ukrainian Cup was not played due to the busy schedule of the Ukrainian championship, matches of the national team and the participation of Ukrainian clubs in European cups.
