James will be a Seagulls player for another year; his relationship with Danny has been extended until 2026
Brighton officially announced the extension of contracts with two experienced players – midfielder James Milner and forwards Danny Welbeck.
Milner, 38, has extended his relationship with the resort town club for one year. A new two-year agreement was signed with 33-year-old Welbeck – until the summer of 2026.
Head coach Roberto De Zerbi said:
“I’m delighted for James and Danny as they both deserve contract extensions. Their quality as players and as individuals is clear to everyone, so this is very good news for us. “They have both been very important to the club on and off the pitch and with the departure of Adam Lallana their contribution will be even more important next season.”
This season Milner, who joined from Liverpool last summer, has played 20 matches for the Seagulls and scored two assists. Welbeck’s statistics are more significant: six goals and one assist in 35 meetings.
Both players have previously won the Premier League: Welbeck as a Manchester United player, and Milner with Manchester City and Liverpool.
Brighton have 48 points from 36 matches and will finish the season in mid-table. Tomorrow, May 15, the Seagulls will host Chelsea in the rescheduled match of the 34th round.
