Milan wants to offer Fonseca a two-year contract

Shakhtar’s ex-coach is the main contender to replace Pioli

Milan continues to work by invitation Paulo Fonseca.

The Lille coach is the main contender for the position of Rossoneri coach. The Portuguese will be offered a two-year contract. Lille are also set to negotiate an extension for Fonseca, whose deal expires at the end of the season.

Stefano Pioli will leave the Rossoneri camp in the summer. It was reported that the mentor had already been informed of the early termination of the contract. Pioli himself should lead Napoli.

This is not the first time Fonseca has appeared on the shortlist of potential Milan managers. It is believed that the Lille coach, who previously worked with Porto, Braga, Shakhtar and Roma, is as similar to Pioli as possible in character and style of play. In addition to Milan, West Ham and Marseille showed interest in the 51-year-old coach.

Another ex-Miners mentor working in Brighton, Italian Roberto De Zerbi, also applied for the post of Milan coach. Milan also refused the invitation of Julen Lopetegui, and Ruben Amorim said that he would remain in Sporting.

Milan is in second place in Serie A.
