The reason was the inappropriate behavior of the coach at the Italian Cup final
Juventus officially announced his release Massimiliano Allegri from the position of head coach.
The reason for the dismissal, according to the official communique, was “certain behavior” of the coach during and after the Italian Cup final, which the club considered incompatible with its values.
Let us remind you that Allegri received a red card at the end of the 2024 Coppa Italia final with Atalanta (1:0), held on May 15. The coach was outraged by the referee’s actions on the field and clashed with the reserve referee and other match officials.
Massimiliano further continued the conflict after the fight with Juventus director Cristiano Giuntoli, and also threatened journalists. It was reported that the Bianconeri were considering the option of early dismissal of their mentor.
Allegri, 56, coached Juventus from 2014 to 2019 and from 2021 to the present day. He won 12 trophies with the Zebras (including five championship titles), and twice led the team to the Champions League finals.
Juventus is in fourth place in Serie A with two rounds to go, with 67 points. Allegri’s team ended in a draw in each of the last five matches of the championship. On Monday, May 20, the Bianconeri will play against their rival in the fight for bronze, Bologna.
