The 22-year-old midfielder scored 32 goals in the championship
Midfielder Chelsea Cole Palmer recognized best young footballer season 2023/24 in English Premier League.
In the voting, the playmaker beat such venerable rivals as Phil Foden, Erling Haaland (both Manchester City), Alexander Isak (Newcastle), Kobby Maina (Manchester United), Bukayo Saka, William Saliba (both Arsenal) and Destiny Udoji (Tottenham).
The footballer, who only turned 22 at the beginning of May, signed for £47 million from Manchester City last summer and has had a phenomenal campaign with the London club.
Cole’s statistics are as follows: 45 matches in all competitions, 25 goals and 14 assists. In the list of Premier League scorers, with 22 goals, he is second only to Erling Haaland (27), and in the “goal + pass” system (32) – to no one at all. However, Palmer is sixth in the league in total shots taken (106) and tied for eighth in chances created, which demonstrates his high efficiency.
It should be noted that Palmer became only the third player in Premier League history to make at least 30 strikes in a season aged 21 or younger, after Robbie Fowler and Chris Sutton.
Palmer was previously named the league’s best player in April. In addition, he claims to be the best player of the entire 2023/24 season in the Premier League.
Chelsea are in sixth place with one round left in the championship. The Blues host Bournemouth on Saturday 19 May.
