Al-Sadd, a Qatari club, took action against Abel Ferreira, from Palmeiras, at FIFA, as the coach allegedly broke a pre-contract agreement
OAl-Saddfrom Qatar, filed a lawsuit against the coach Abel Ferreiraof Palm trees. According to an investigation by ‘TNT Sports’, the Qatari club claims that the commander failed to comply with a pre-contract signed to take over the team at the beginning of 2024.
Palmeiras, to date, has not officially commented on the case. However, in contact with ‘GE’, the club stated that it is already aware of everything that encompasses the case and seeks to take the appropriate legal measures in the situation. According to the Qatari club, negotiations have taken place since October 2023, but an agreement was signed between both parties.
Abel Ferreira would have signed an agreement with Al-Sadd on November 15, 2023, even before Palmeiras confirmed the title of the Brasileirão. In the document explained by the Qataris, the Portuguese was agreed to take over the team from December 27th of that year, aiming to continue the Qatari football season.
At that moment, a lot of speculation arose about Abel Ferreira’s future, which was still open, as the coach had not renewed his contract with Palmeiras. The Spanish newspaper ‘Sport’, for example, reported that the Portuguese was in advanced talks with Al-Sadd and could become the highest paid coach in the world, if he agreed to go to the Middle East.
