Quique Sanchez Flores will leave Sevilla at the end of the season

The parties decided to mutually terminate the contract

Seville officially announced that she would part ways with her head coach Quique Sanchez Flores at the end of the season. The parties came to a decision to terminate the contract by mutual consent.

“I would like to thank Kike for his great efforts. When he arrived the club was in a very difficult situation and he helped us out of it with many hours of hard work. He did exactly what was needed, and for that we are very grateful to him. I would just like to thank him again for all his hard work during a difficult period. He will always be welcome in Seville,” said club president José Maria del Nido Carrasco.

Recall that Sevilla appointed Quique Sanchez Flores on December 18 last year. It was reported that the contract was concluded until the summer of 2025.

Quique became the third coach of the Nervions during the season. Before him, Jose Luis Mendilibar and Diego Alonso worked in this position without success.

At the time of Sánchez Flores’ arrival, Sevilla were struggling to survive in La Liga, having failed to win since September and also finishing bottom of Group B of the Champions League. Under the current coach, the Rojiblancos have improved their results, gaining 31 points from 21 league matches and climbing out of the basement of the standings.

The Spanish specialist is 59 years old. He is known for his work with Getafe, Valencia, Benfica, Watford, Espanyol and other clubs, including in China and the UAE.

Now, two rounds before the end of the championship, Sevilla is in 12th place with 41 points and has a chance to finish in the top 10. In the two remaining matches, Sanchez Flores’ team will play away against Athletic and host Barcelona.
