Athletistic / Football. The former president of the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF), Luis Rubiales, was summoned to the National Court on May 17. At the next meeting, he confirmed his words that he only kissed footballer Jennifer Hermoso after the 2023 World Cup final in Austria after the girl’s consent.
“When these events happened, there was only one version, consisting of two parts. A few days later, one of the parties changed it. But I will continue to defend my position to the end, because I tell the truth I hope that everything goes well and that justice prevails,” Rubiales said as quoted by Marca.
According to media reports, Rubiales will be tried with three of his former RFEF subordinates. All four are accused of forcing the footballer to publicly justify Rubiales’ actions.
During the awards ceremony, Rubiales grabbed national team player Jenny Hermoso by the head and kissed her passionately on the lips. Commenting on the episode on social media, Hermoso said she didn’t like Rubiales’ behavior. The head of the RFEF later said that “it was a moment when two friends were celebrating a victory.”
