Jesus Navas will play for Sevilla until the end of the year, after which he will take up a lifelong position at the club

Cube student received an offer he couldn’t refuse

Legend Seville Jesus Navas signed an original “lifetime contract” with the club. According to this agreement, he will remain a Nervion football player until December 31, 2024, after which he will end his playing career and take a permanent position in the club structure.

Earlier in May, Navas, who turns 39 in November, said he would leave Sevilla at the end of the season. However, when he received a new offer from club president Jose Maria del Nido Carrasco, Jesus, by his own admission, “didn’t doubt it for a minute.”

“I want to finish my career here. I’m very happy to continue my career at the club I love. My desire, which I communicated to the president, is to continue playing until December during the transition period to continue to help the team. Then I’ll hang up my cleats, fulfilling the dream I’ve always wanted to play for.”

“I will not receive a salary for the last few months of my professional football career. Instead, the money will be donated to a fund agreed upon by the president. This is my decision,” said the Spanish footballer.

Navas is a student of the Nervions. Jesus has played for the Andalusian club since 2003, with a break in 2013-2017, when the player played for Manchester City. Navas played 688 matches for Sevilla (of which he was in the starting lineup in 600).

Jesus set several records in the history of the club. Navas is Seville’s most decorated player; the midfielder won eight trophies with the club, including two UEFA Cups and two Europa League triumphs. Also, the flanker footballer is the club record holder for the number of matches, and for the number of games for the Spanish national team among Seville footballers.

This season, Jesus played 35 matches for the club in all competitions and scored two assists in them.

Sevilla is in 12th place in La Liga. In the next match, the Nerviones will play Atlético Madrid on May 19.
