Athletistic / Football. Spartak Moscow defender Georgy Dzhikia shared his emotions after the farewell match at the Red-White Stadium. The day before, on May 19, the 30-year-old Russian played his last match at the Lukoil Arena as a player for the home team.
“Firstly, I am happy with everything. Secondly, no one owes or owes me anything. And thirdly, I was very happy from the moment they said goodbye to me, how everything went.
If we go back to how we said goodbye to the captains, then that’s ancient history and I respect everyone. I can’t and don’t have the right to talk about it, because at least I wasn’t in the locker room when certain moments happened. And the fact that I respect captains, veterans, etc. is a fact,” quotes Sport-Express Jikia.
Georgy Dzhikia will leave Spartak at the end of the 2023/2024 season as a free agent. The defender has been playing for the capital club since January 2017. Dzhikia appeared on the field 214 times in a red and white T-shirt, scored 5 goals and made 11 assists. With Spartak, Georgy won the most important trophies in Russian football – he became the champion of Russia, winner of the country’s Cup and Super Cup.
