Lithuanian Football Federation fined 5 thousand euros
Lithuania women’s national football team will not host official matches in the upcoming qualifying window European Championship 2025 against the national team Belarus
The national teams of Lithuania and Belarus were supposed to meet on May 31 and June 4, but these matches have been officially cancelled. In both meetings, the Lithuanian team will receive a technical defeat of 0:3, and the Lithuanian Football Federation will be fined five thousand euros.
“Finally, this issue has been officially resolved, and now we can look forward. In this case, sanctions and monetary fines are not the main issues; it was important to once again recall the position of the Lithuanian Football Federation in relation to the war and aggressors,” said the organization’s president Edgaras Stankevicius.
The Lithuanians will complete the first round of the qualifying tournament with two matches in July – on July 12 they will play an away match with Cyprus, and on July 16 they will play a home match with Georgia.
Belarus is allowed to take part in UEFA tournaments, but they must play their home games outside the country and without spectators.
