The film “Football Must Go On” won in the “Documentary Series” category
Documentary about Shakhtar “Football Must Go On” won an award Sports Emmy Awards-2024.
The four-part film from the Paramount+ studio won the nomination “Documentary series”. The film about Miner beat out the other four nominees: the car racing series “Formula 1: Drive to Survive” (Netflix), the baseball series “Hard Knocks” (HBO), the reality wrestling show “Monster Factory” (Apple TV) and the series about American football “Quarterback” (Netflix).
“I am happy and sad at the same time about this. I am happy because this is our victory, where we competed with such giants. So congratulations to all our fans and fans on this victory! I’m upset because this is a film about the terrible days of the war, about pain, tears, suffering.”
“But in any case, this is a victory. Our victory for all of Ukraine. Because the world must know about the war, and we will use every opportunity to gain world support in the fight against the aggressor. And I believe that each of us should strive to win in what we do, and through such small successes the desired big victory will come. I believe in it. Football Must Go On! Glory to Ukraine!” said Shakhtar CEO Sergei Palkin.
Let us remind you that the mini-series tells about the fate of the Ukrainian club in the conditions of a full-scale war with Russia. The film takes place during the Miners’ participation in the 2022/23 Champions League.
Last season, Shakhtar took third place in the group stage of the Champions League and reached the 1/8 finals of the Europa League. This season, the Miners also advanced from third place in the Champions League group to the LE playoffs, where they lost at the 1/16 final stage.
Early in the morning of February 24, 2022, Russia fired rockets and aerial bombardment of most Ukrainian cities, and then launched a full-scale military invasion. The war against Russia has continued for the 819th day.
