Hero of the 29th round of the Second League Castro, nicknamed “Paraguay”: I hope that YUKSA will become champion this week

Sport Arena, together with the PFL, is naming the hero of the next round in the Second League. In the 29th round this is YUKSA midfielder Pablo Ramon Castro Gonzalez

Provided two assists in the match with FC Trostyanets first Paraguayan foreign player in the history of minor league competition – thanks to this, YUKSA retained first place at the end of the regular season and will now wait for the results of the final round in order to understand what type of medal the club will receive in its debut season among professionals. Sport Arena and the PFL press service recognized Pablo Castro as the Hero of the 29th round.

Exclusively for the Sport Arena website, the hero of the 29th round of the Second League, Pablo Ramon Castro Gonzalez, nicknamed Paraguay, shared his impressions of the team’s game, YUKSA’s victory over Trostyanets, spoke about his nickname and adaptation to the new country.

– How unexpected and pleasant is it for you to be recognized as the best player of the tour in the Second League?

– I think that all the players would like to receive such recognition and would be very happy. I thank the authoritative experts who noted me. This motivates me to work even harder to make progress.

– Interesting fact from Sport Arena: YuKSA has already won five matches in a row. What is the strength of your team?

“I think the strength of our team is our unity, our daily dedication to training and the fact that we all have the same ambitions.”

– Of course, the status of a leader puts pressure on you, but you manage to remain calm. Perhaps responsibility for the result motivates even more, or is it beneficial, because every game is like the last?

“I think I’ve already learned to deal with pressure.” My teammates have helped me a lot with this and I hope that YUKSA will be crowned champions this week.

– In the match with Trostyanets you gave two assists and took part in one goal. Probably your best match for the new team so far? Or can you remember any other game?

– Yes, I think it was one of my best matches for FC YUKSA. I managed to help my team with two assists. I also remember my first match in the starting lineup, which was away against Kudrovka, where we won 7:1. I then made two assists and also scored the first goal in a Crusaders shirt.

– It seemed that your team had no problems against the team from the Sumy region…

– It helped us a lot that we were the first to take the lead in the score, we managed to score the first goal very early, so the team became more confident and rested in order to score more goals without conceding a single one.

– What, in your opinion, was the key episode in the match?

– The key moment was Matvey Kharchenko’s goal, thanks to which we were able to quickly take the lead. Then we felt more confident and relaxed.

– YUKSA retains its leadership based on the results of the penultimate round, but the fate of the championship in the final round will be decided by Friendship in Stryi. Will the whole team watch your competitors’ matches?

– Yes, we will definitely watch the game with our teammates, and, of course, if God wants, we will become champions, which is what we all strive for.

– Who invited you to YUKSA and why did you agree to the offer?

– I was invited by agent Pablo Bueno (known for his work with one of Shakhtar’s Brazilian legionnaires, Tete, – approx. Sports Arena), taking care of my affairs. He told me about the possibility of joining FC YUKSA. I thought a little, because there is a war in Ukraine, and still agreed to come. And now I’m happy here.

– How quickly were you able to adapt to the new team and who helped you the most? Maybe you have already started learning the language?

– I managed to adapt, I thank God, as well as my foreign teammates. Those foreign players who were on the team from last year helped me a lot in everyday life. Yes, the club organized Ukrainian lessons for us. The language is difficult for me, but I can already speak a few words 🙂

– Which clubs did you play for at home and where did you have to prove yourself the most?

– The only club I was in was Atlético Paranaense, but as a professional I was able to prove myself in Uniao Fredericense.

– We know that your nickname is “Paraguay”. Why do they call you that?

– Since I arrived in Brazil, all my teammates began to call me “Paraguayo”, because I was the only foreigner. It stayed that way and now I’m used to it.

– How would you rate the level of the Second League? Probably, football in Ukraine is very different from Paraguayan?

– Yes, of course, in my opinion, what distinguishes football in Ukraine and Paraguay is the intensity and level of the game.

– Probably, the fact that there are a number of Brazilians on the team helped? Did you manage to make game connections quickly?

– Yes, this is what helped me more when there are foreigners in the team: we can communicate with each other on the field and this helps me understand what my teammates require from me.

– Who, in your opinion, is the most talented Ukrainian in the YUKSA?

– Everyone is talented, but Andrey Demidenko impressed me the most – because of his ability to play at such a high level at a young age.

– What tasks do you set for yourself for the near future?

– My goal is to reach the first division and compete with world-class players.
