A month ago it was reported that the Spanish specialist would be extended until 2027
Aston Villa officially announced the conclusion of a new contract with the head coach Unai Emery. Now the Spaniard is contractually bound to the club until the summer of 2029.
A little over a month ago, the club reported that a contract until 2027 had been agreed upon with the 52-year-old specialist.
The mentor himself commented on the long-term extension of the relationship:
“I am very pleased to take this step and take on the responsibility of leading this club. The entire football structure here shares the same vision and the same goals. Aston Villa have great chemistry. And the element of support from the fans also helps to feel at home. We are thrilled to continue this journey with no limits to our dreams.”
Emery will take over Aston Villa in the fall of 2022. Under his leadership, in the first season the team finished in seventh place in the Premier League, making it into the European competition. In the current Conference League, the Birmingham team reached the semi-finals – the last time the Villans reached such a late stage of the European Cup was in 1982.
Aston Villa finished fourth in the English Championship, ahead of Tottenham in the race for the Champions League. Villans qualified for this European tournament for the first time in their history. In 1982, the team from Birmingham sensationally won the European Cup, but after that the limit of their achievements was participation in the UEFA Cup / Europa League.
