Former Fakel and Akhmat head coach Sergei Tashuev positively assessed Dynamo Moscow’s performance in the 2023/24 season.
Dynamo led the Russian Championship going into the final round, but lost 0-1 to Krasnodar on Saturday and finished in third place. Zenit St. Petersburg became the champion of Russia for the sixth time in a row, defeating Rostov in a parallel match – 2:1.
— Dynamo’s third place is described by its leaders as almost a success. Do you agree?
“I think it’s a definite success.” This is not to say that Dynamo was heading towards the championship. They had a rough spring, but then they got lucky and started scoring in the final seconds. There was an element of luck in Ngamale’s goals, that’s obvious. But in the match against Krasnodar, they deservedly lost: the opponent had 12 actions in front of the penalty area and two from Dynamo. It turns out that the team found itself in the lead before the last lap. It’s hardly natural.
But in general, Dynamo are great. They took a step forward. Fan interest in the team increased, strong players appeared, Lichka played adventurous attacking football. It’s interesting for the public. I think next season they will have the biggest challenges to face.
— Should I leave Lichka?
— He was recognized as the best coach in the RPL. Clearly this is more about marketing stuff. But for now, Marcel, of course, will work. And then everything will depend on the result,” Tashuev said, as quoted by RB Sport.
The autumn part of the new MIR RPL season will last from July 20 to December 8, the spring part – from March 1 to May 24.
