Ukrainian gymnast Nikolchenko announced her retirement

The 21-year-old athlete promised to reveal all the details of her care “in the near future”

Ukrainian athlete, former member of the Ukrainian national rhythmic gymnastics team Vlada Nikolchenko announced end of career.

21-year-old Vlada promises to reveal all the details of her departure “in the near future.”

“I close the door and confidently fly forward towards something new. I am officially ending my career as a gymnast. Unfortunately, sometimes there is a lot of injustice in our lives, I face this, like all of us, but after one injustice I decided that enough was enough and this would become an end. Do I regret this? Absolutely not.”

In 2019, Vlada won bronze at the World Rhythmic Gymnastics Championships in Baku, finishing third in the clubs exercise. In the same year, the Ukrainian won two bronze medals at the European Games – in exercises with hoop and in exercises with clubs. Her track record also includes gold in the all-around in category B at the Warsaw Autumn 2023 tournament.

In November 2023, Vlada was excluded from the Ukrainian rhythmic gymnastics team. The athlete wrote on social networks that she “hates Poland and the people who live there.”

Vlada later apologized and explained that her words were the result of a psychological breakdown, and the Ukrainian Rhythmic Gymnastics Federation reported that it had begun disciplinary proceedings because of Nikolchenko’s statements.
