At the same time, the club, relegated from the Premier League, continues to search for a successor to Vincent Kompany
Burnley officially announced that he has temporarily become the acting head coach of the men’s team. Craig Bellamy. Appointed as his assistant Mike Jackson.
At the same time, the club, relegated from the English Premier League, continues to actively search for a successor to Vincent Kompany, who yesterday moved to Bayern after two years of working with the Clarets.
Burnley’s statement reads:
“We have complete confidence in Craig and Mike and believe their extensive experience and deep understanding of the club make them ideal candidates to lead the team at this important time.”
Bellamy, 44, is a famous former Welsh footballer. Together with Kompany, he played for some time in Manchester City, after which he reunited with the Belgian, first in Anderlecht (2021), and then on the Burnley coaching staff.
Jackson, 50, previously worked at Shrewsbury and Tranmere before taking charge of Burnley’s U-21 side. At the end of the 2021/22 season, he acted as head coach of the Klaretovs – under him the team took 11 points in eight rounds of the Premier League. In the summer of 2022, he joined the Kompany coaching staff.
Let us remember that last year Burnley, with Kompany, Bellamy and Jackson, rose from the Championship to the Premier League, but returned back at the end of the 2023/24 season. Together with the Klaretovs, Sheffield United and Luton left the elite division.
