The young midfielder expects to play at both the Euro and the Olympics
One of the leaders Ukrainian national team Georgy Sudakov suggests that his national team will be able to spring a surprise at European Championship 2024.
“I am very proud to have the opportunity to represent my country in these two competitions. [Евро и Олимпиада]. I hope to perform at both. With the Euros, the pressure on the players is already increasing, but I feel confident and hope that we will play good football.”
“Don’t be surprised if Ukraine does well at the Euro. We have reached a high level where we are respected all over the world. Our results in Germany can be anything. I can’t put a limit on how far we can go. We can potentially go very far in the competition and I’m ready for that.”
Previously, the 21-year-old midfielder said that he expects a high level of play from both himself and his team at Euro 2024. At the same time, Georgy admitted that he “wants and dreams” of playing at the 2024 Olympics.
Sudakov played 34 matches for Shakhtar in all competitions of the 2023/24 season, scored 10 goals and provided six assists. As part of the Ukrainian national team in the qualifying round for the 2024 European Championship, Georgy became one of the key performers: he played in every match from the first minutes, and was replaced only in three out of ten cases. In total, he has one goal and three assists in 14 matches for the national team.
In the summer of 2023, Sudakov, as part of the Ukrainian youth team, successfully performed at the U-21 European Championship, reaching the semi-finals and winning the historical right for Ukraine to take part in the Olympic Games 2024 football tournament. At that forum, Georgy scored three goals in five matches, in particular, he scored a double against his peers from France in the quarter-final match.

As part of their training camp, Sergei Rebrov’s team will play three friendly matches: on June 3 with Germany (in Nuremberg), on June 7 with Poland (away) and on the 11th with Moldova in Chisinau.
On June 12, the Ukrainian team will move from Nuremberg to Wiesbaden, its base city during the continental championship. Wiesbaden is the capital of the federal state of Hesse in western Germany, located next to Mainz and Darmstadt, near Frankfurt.
