The coach expects that all injured players will return to action in a few days
Head coach Ukrainian national team Sergey Rebrov spoke about the national team’s preparatory training camp for European Championship 2024.
“The first task is to prepare adequately for the Euro, because we have a lot of expectations. I thanked the players for what they did, and they did a lot. Now we need to forget all about this and represent Ukraine well at the Euro.”
“I think it was a short break and the players really needed it because the season was very intense. For the last almost three months, Shakhtar and Dynamo players have been playing two or three games a week, fighting very hard for the championship. Therefore, I believe that they have had a little rest and are now preparing for the Euro in a good mood.”
“I hope that the players who have minor injuries will be back in a day or two, as far as I can see them training. I hope there won’t be any more damage at this gathering.”
“I remember all the matches of the national team. This is truly a big responsibility. My first fight was very interesting, we gained important confidence in our own abilities. It’s hard for me to compare how the team has changed, because I haven’t worked with the team before. I’m interested in working with the players, they show interest, so I hope we enjoy working together.”
The Ukrainian national team held its first training session as part of the German training camp before the 2024 European Championship. The football players warmed up, did running exercises, and worked with the ball. Georgy Sudakov and Vitaly Mikolenko worked individually in the last phase of the training; they are recovering from injuries.
Let us remind you that the Ukrainian national team arrived in Nuremberg, after which it settled in the neighboring city of Herzogenaurach, where it will spend the next six days of training camp. In the coming days, Rebrov’s team will play three friendly matches: on June 3 with Germany (in Nuremberg), on June 7 with Poland (away) and on the 11th with Moldova in Chisinau.
On June 12, the Ukrainian team will move from Nuremberg to Wiesbaden, its base city during the continental championship. Wiesbaden is the capital of the federal state of Hesse in western Germany, located next to Mainz and Darmstadt, near Frankfurt.
At the group stage of the 2024 European Championship, the blue-yellows will successively play with the national teams of Romania (June 17), Slovakia (June 21) and Belgium (June 26). The matches will take place in Munich, Dusseldorf and Stuttgart, respectively.
