Lovro Meyer scored two goals, the first with a beautiful free-kick
Croatia in a friendly match won a big victory over North Macedonia – 3:0.
Coach Zlatko Dalic did not field an optimal lineup – for various reasons, Josip Stanisic, Luka Modric, Marcelo Brozovic and Mario Pasalic were absent. But this did not stop his team from winning a landslide victory.
The result was ensured by two accurate shots from Lovro Maier before the break. The Wolfsburg midfielder opened the scoring with a direct free-kick, and at the end of the half completed a technical combination involving Bruno Petkovic.
The North Macedonians did not sit back on defense and struck more blows than their opponents, but the Croats were rather closer to defeat. In the end, they achieved it: Stole Dimitrievski managed to parry a point-blank shot from Ante Budimir, but not a finish from Marko Pasalic.
The Croats played this match in Rijeka, where they began their training camp. On June 7, Dalic’s team will travel to Lisbon, where they will play a friendly match against Portugal on June 8, and the next day they will travel to Germany.
Croatia will play their first Euro match on June 15 against Spain in Berlin, followed by a match against Albania in Hamburg on June 19 and a match against Italy in Leipzig on June 24.
