Michel Bastos projects challenges at TST and talks about Rio Grande do Sul

Michel Bastos is ready for a new endeavor: defending the Desimpedidos Esporte Clubethe player will participate in the TST, a global 7v7 football competition with a format similar to that of FIFA World cup. The prize for the champion of the contest will be US$ 1 million.

Exclusively to Athletisticthe gaucho detailed behind the scenes before the tournament, which is scheduled to start this Wednesday, 5th, and what can be expected. “I am preparing well, as much as possible. We won’t deny it, it’s not the Michel of 15, 20 years ago, but I hope to help a lot, expectations are high”he highlighted.

It’s a competition that has strengthened a lot, I think the level will be much higher than last year. I was a guy who analyzed a lot of games, I looked to pass on this knowledge. We have a coach who is the Smokemy friend, and they gave me a lot of freedom to share what I know.”

Furthermore, Michel highlighted the growth of Fut7 in Brazil: “Before, it was just a sport for you to play, it wasn’t professional at all at the rate we are having […]. As it is starting to standardize, different rules are coming, and this is challenging. For me, it’s really cool, you just have to adapt and fit in.”

Born in Pelotas, the athlete also lamented the tragedy in Rio Grande do Sul and assessed the impact of the floods on the sporting scene. “Here in Brazil we have been doing [a nossa parte]but if we have to take it outside, we will pass on this message and request for help”said Michel.

“We discuss a lot about the Brazilian championship, if it should stop, because we have three teams without stadiums and CTs. It changes the calendar a lot, there are players from there in other clubs, with families in Rio Grande do Sul, who worry and who, psychologically, sometimes are unable to do their best […]. So, those who still have the means to continue helping do so because it’s not over.”.
