Barcelona and national team striker Poland Robert Lewandowski will not take part in the first match of the group stage of the European Football Championship due to a ruptured thigh muscle, national team doctor Jacek Jaroszewski said.
Lewandowski was injured on Monday during a friendly match against the Turks (2:1). Lewandowski left the field in the 33rd minute of the match. Midfielder Pavel Davidovich and striker Karol Swiderski were also injured. Both players will start training within 3-4 days.
— On Tuesday, three players injured during the match against the Turkish team were examined. Davidovich suffered from a strained quadriceps femoris muscle. Svidersky’s examination showed an ankle sprain without significant damage. Both players are expected to return to full training within 3-4 days following treatment.
Lewandowski suffered a torn biceps femoris, which will keep him out of the first game. We are doing everything possible so that Robert can play the second match against the Austrian national team,” Yaroszewski was quoted as saying by the press service of the Polish Football Union.
