Klose becomes the new head coach of Nuremberg

Previously, Miroslav worked as an assistant to Lev and Flick, but his first independent experience in Austria was not successful

Nuremberg officially announced the appointment of the legendary football player Miroslava Klose for the position of head coach.

Having completed his career in 2016, the ex-forward of Kaiserslautern, Werder Bremen, Bayern and Lazio immediately got a job as an assistant to Joachim Löw on the coaching staff of the German national team (2016 – 2018). Later he led the Bayern youth team and was an assistant to Hans-Dieter Flick in the first team (2020/21) in the main team of the Munich club.

Klose received his first independent coaching experience at the adult level in Altach, Austria. During the 2022/23 season, he took only 17 points in 22 rounds and left the team in last place in the regular season standings. Subsequently, Altach was saved from relegation, but without the participation of Miroslav.

In March 2024, Klose was one of the candidates to become the new head coach of Lazio after the departure of Maurizio Sarri. Miro himself confirmed his readiness to lead the Roman club, but the Eagles eventually opted for Igor Tudor.

Nuremberg finished 12th in the 2nd Bundesliga in the 2023/24 season under Christian Fihl.
