Ukraine defeated Moldova in the last sparring before Euro 2024

The only negative result of the match in Chisinau was Mikolenko’s injury

Ukraine in an away friendly match they beat Moldova in preparation for European Championship 2024 – 4:0.

Sergei Rebrov’s team opened the scoring in the very opening – Roman Yaremchuk, taking advantage of a blunder by Vladislav Baboglo, scored the 15th goal in his 50th match for the national team. Nikolai Matvienko, who was playing his 65th match for the national team, scored the assist.

After the equator of the first half, trouble happened: Vitaly Mykolenko, who had recently recovered from injury, was injured and was unable to continue the match. He was replaced by Alexander Zinchenko.

Before the break, the guests increased the score – Georgy Sudakov and Viktor Tsygankov played a quick technical combination.

Artem Dovbik came on in place of Yaremchuk for the second half and immediately scored his tenth goal for the national team. Sudakov scored the second assist. Five minutes later, the goalscorer and assistant switched roles, and Shakhtar’s leader scored the third effective action of the match.

In the remaining time, Rebrov’s team did not force events, and the hosts tried in vain to score a prestige goal. Virgiliu Postolaki’s shot was dealt with by Andrei Lunin, while Nika Kleshchenko and Baboglo’s shots lacked accuracy.

Tomorrow, June 12, the Ukrainian team will move to Wiesbaden, its base city during the continental championship. At the group stage of the 2024 European Championship, the blue-yellows will play against the national teams of Romania (June 17), Slovakia (June 21) and Belgium (June 26). The matches will take place in Munich, Dusseldorf and Stuttgart, respectively.
