Transfer to PSG not best decision for Safonov, says former Krasnodar player Fernandes

Former footballer for Lokomotiv Moscow and Krasnodar Manuel Fernandes spoke about the possible transfer of the Russian goalkeeper Matveya Safonov at PSG.

Earlier, the media reported that PSG will soon announce the transfer of 25-year-old Safonov. The transfer amount should be 20 million euros.

— Safonov is a talented guy, but I didn’t expect him to join PSG. From a sporting point of view, such an approach does not entirely suit him. I don’t think Safonov will move Donnarumma from the starting lineup. From a team status and money perspective, the transition is understandable. But if Matvey wants to become better as a player, then this is not the best decision, in my opinion,” Rossiyskaya Gazeta quotes Fernandes.

Last week, lawyer Maxim Shilov told that Safonov was banned from leaving the Russian Federation due to alimony debts, which is why the goalkeeper’s transfer to PSG is in question.
