Fonseca is officially the new head coach of Milan

Shakhtar’s ex-mentor signed a three-year contract

Portuguese specialist Paulo Fonseca officially became the new head coach Milan. Shakhtar’s ex-mentor signed a three-year contract with Rossoneri.

Paulo was the main contender for the position of new head coach of Milan after the departure of Stefano Pioli. Back in mid-May, it was reported that the Italian giants wanted to offer the 51-year-old coach a two-year contract, and the Portuguese himself confirmed his readiness to lead the Red-Blacks.

Fonseca previously officially parted ways with Lille, who coached for the last two years. One of his assistants, according to Sport Arena, may be Mauro Tasotti.

Previously, the mentor worked in such clubs as Porto, Braga, Shakhtar and Roma. In both the Donetsk and French clubs, his assistants were Tiago Leal (analyst, scout) and Antonio Ferreira (goalkeeping coach).

Paulo Fonseca worked for Shakhtar in 2016-19. Together with the Miners, he became the champion of Ukraine three times, and also won the national Cup three times.

Milan scored 75 points and finished in second place in Serie A 2023/24.
