At the moment, 19 of the 20 participants in the elite division are known, the last ticket to Primera will be played by Oviedo and Espanyol
Key dates for the 2024/25 season calendar in Spain have become known La Liga.
The base start date for the championship is August 18. The final 38th round will take place on the weekend of May 25th. La Liga 2 will end on the first day of summer, and from June 7 to 22, 2025, the promotion playoffs will take place.
Very soon the teams participating in the competition will find out all their opponents for the upcoming season. The draw for the next season in the elite division will take place next Tuesday, June 18. Eight days later, the calendar draw for La Liga 2 will take place.
It is noteworthy that during the draw, one of the places will be marked with the abbreviation ESP/OVI. The fact is that the last, twentieth participant in the elite division in the coming season has not yet been decided – Espanyol and Oviedo will compete for a place in the sun in the playoff finals (the matches will be held on June 14 and 23).
There are five FIFA international breaks during the season:
- September 2 – 10, 2024
- October 7 -15, 2024
- November 11 – 19, 2024
- March 17 – 25, 2025
- 2 – 10 June 2025
In addition, the calendar provides for the Christmas holidays (December 22 – conditionally January 12).
Let us remember that Real Madrid triumphed in La Liga last season. The second was Barcelona, the third – the sensational Girona of Ukrainians Artem Dovbik and Viktor Tsygankov. The capital’s Atletico closed the top 4. We left Primera Cadiz, Almeria and Granada. Leganes and Valladolid were promoted directly from La Liga 2.
