“Germany was unstoppable.” Scotland manager Clarke talks about defeat in UEFA EURO 2024 opener

Scotland head coach Steve Clarke says Germany were unstoppable in their opening European Championship match.

The Group A meeting, held in Munich, ended with a victory for Germany with a score of 5:1. The goals were scored by Florian Wirtz, Jamal Musiala, Kai Havertz, who converted the penalty, Niklas Füllkrug and Emre Can. German team defender Antonio Rudiger cut the ball into his own goal at the end of the match.

– Tough evening. We didn’t play at our level. It’s like we’ve let ourselves down. We are stronger than what we showed today and I hope we can show that in the next two matches Germany were unstoppable and unfortunately we couldn’t match them. In the first half, we lost everything very quickly. “We couldn’t get a foothold in the game,” Clark told the UEFA website.

In the second round of the group stage, the German team will play with the Hungarians, the Scottish team will meet the Swiss team. Both matches will take place on June 19.
