Yarmolenko is the first Ukrainian to play at four European Championships

The match, in which his team was defeated by Romania, became Andrei’s 120th as part of the national team

Midfielder Andrey Yarmolenko became the first Ukrainian to take part in four European Championships. He also played his 120th match for Ukrainian national team.

The 34-year-old Dynamo player was a starter in all previous matches on continental forums – three times each at the 2012 and 2016 European Championships, five times at Euro 2020.

Today, in the opening match of the blue-yellows at the 2024 European Championship against Romania, Andrei appeared in the 62nd minute instead of Viktor Tsygankov. This happened when the score was 0:3, and Andrei could not help his team at least avoid defeat.

Yarmolenko made his debut for the national team in September 2009 (and marked his debut with a goal against Andorra). In 120 matches for the national team, he scored 46 goals and 26 assists.

Today, two more representatives of Group E – Belgium and Slovakia – will begin their journey to the Euro. Their match starts at 19:00.

In the second round, Ukraine will play against Slovakia on June 21. In the final match of the group stage, Rebrov’s team will meet Belgium on June 26.
