The Asturian club leads the table 1-0 in the first match, thanks to another goal from Brazilian Alexandre Alemão. Now, they will face Espanyol
Since the 2000/01 season, the Real Oviedo does not play in the first division of Spanish football, but more than two decades later, the Asturian team is one draw or victory away from finally returning to LALIGA EA SPORTS. After deleting the SD Eibar midweek with a 2-0 away win in the LALIGA HYPERMOTION playoff semi-finals, they took the lead in the first leg of the final by defeating RCD Espanyol 1-0 at home on Sunday night.
Brazilian striker Alexandre Alemão was once again the hero for Los Azules. After opening the scoring against SD Eibar on Wednesday, he was the quickest to react when the RCD Espanyol goalkeeper, Joan Garciascored a free kick in the 72nd minute of the first match of the playoff final.
It could have been an even better result for the home team as Masca scored again a few minutes later. However, an offside ruled out the goal and now, Real Oviedo travel to Catalonia with an advantage.
The Coach Luis Carrion knows that this confrontation is far from over. Speaking after the first game, he stated: “We still have a difficult match ahead of us. We will work to put players in the right mindset so they approach the game trying to win it. This is a strong cast and I’m sure they won’t relax. It wouldn’t make sense to do that. Let’s go to the RCD Espanyol stadium and try to have a good final.”
