Georges Mikautadze scores a historic blow
Forward Georgian national team Georges Mikautadze in the 32nd minute of the second round match European Championship 2024 against Turkey wrote his name in history.
The Georgians made their debut at major tournaments today; they conceded a goal from Mert Muldur in the 25th minute, and after a short period of time they managed to score a historic goal. Mikautadze did it with a touch shot into the near corner from a pass from Giorgi Kochorashvili. There was also a mistake by Turkish goalkeeper Mert Günok.
After the first round the match was a 1:1 draw. Later today, the final match of the first round will take place – two more representatives of Quartet F, Portugal and the Czech Republic, will meet (start at 22:00).
Let us remind you that Georgia made it to the historic continental forum through the playoffs, consistently winning over Luxembourg (2:0) and Greece (0:0, 4:2 on penalties).
