Athletistic / Football. Former captain of the Russian national team Andrei Arshavin appreciated the performance of Portuguese striker Cristiano Ronaldo in the match of the 1st round of the group stage of Euro 2024 with the Czech Republic (2:1). The 39-year-old Portuguese spent the entire match on the field, but was unable to score any effective action.
“I agree with the opinion that Portugal is not the favorite for Euro 2024, because Ronaldo is too much of a leader. Cristiano is no longer the best player in his team,” Arshavin was quoted as saying by Match TV.
Note that Cristiano Ronaldo became the highest scoring player in the match against the Czech Republic (5 shots on goal), and also finished the match with 100% passing accuracy (22/22).
The Portuguese team occupies second place in Group F with three points. Turkey leads the quartet, having beaten the Georgian team the day before (3:1). On June 22, the Portuguese will face the Turks in the second round of the group stage and the Georgians will meet the Czechs.
