The legendary former Dynamo Kyiv forward spoke about the opening match of the European Championship.
The players of the Ukrainian national team should quickly forget the unsuccessful result of the game against Romania, because no less important matches await. This is what former legendary Dynamo forward Maxim Shatskikh thinks.
According to the specialist, the fate of the opening match was decided by many mistakes of the blue-and-yellow players. In addition, there was luck on the side of the opponent – and the goals flew into the goal of the Ukrainians after all the chances created by the opponent.
“We failed to create anything sharp. The Romanians, unfortunately, succeeded. Of course, it was clear that they were going to play on quick transitions, on counterattacks, because Ukraine likes to have the ball. That’s how it was. Plus annoying mistakes , needless to say, Let’s just say they led to this disastrous outcome.
Before the game, I read some statements, they said, this is Romania, we have to beat, this and that. You don’t have to do this. I will repeat again that there are no weak people in these tournaments. They didn’t get there by accident. You have to tune in to everything and prepare for everything.
It’s football, it’s hard to say. I don’t think they come off as under-toned or relaxed. It just so happened that for the Romanians, whatever the blow, everyone was there. Almost everything they created fell apart. The fact that ours didn’t create as much as we would like… That’s why we didn’t see a goal, not a single one. I think now we have to forget about it and prepare for the next game. Because there may be no chance. You see Belgium also lost. You can and should play with everyone. The main thing now is to prepare well for the next game. There is no more right to misfire,” Dynamomania quoted Shatskikh.
We remind you that the Ukrainian national team was defeated by Romania in the first round of the Euro 2024 group round. In the next match of the tournament, Ukraine will play against the Slovak team.
Earlier, Ruslan Malinovsky spoke about a difficult conversation within the team after the failure in the opening match.
