Lunev is a sure win for Dynamo, says Kolyvanov

Former Dynamo Moscow striker Igor Kolyvanov believes that the “blue and white” have strengthened thanks to the transfer of the ex-goalkeeper from Zenit, Bayer and Qarabag Andrey Lunev .

On Tuesday, Blue and White announced the signing of 32-year-old Lunev to a two-year contract. The agreement contains the possibility of extending it for another year.

— Will Lunev strengthen the club’s goalkeeper position?

— Lunev started with me in Ufa. He was a completely raw boy, but even then it was clear he had good technique. Then he played well in Zenit and was called up to the national team. For Dynamo, it’s definitely a strengthening. Andrey is a top goalkeeper, but for a goalkeeper he is still quite young. He looked good in Qarabag and performed well in European competitions. I hope he will help the club conquer new heights.

— Maybe this is a clue to Anton Shunin that they aren’t counting on him as principal?

— Anton probably understands that it is difficult to keep the bar high forever. Everyone ends their career at some point or loses the competition to younger players, but he has done a great job at Dynamo and has already made his mark on the club’s history. I hope that if they say goodbye to him now, they will do so with dignity and grace. Goalkeepers most often play until the age of 36. Anyone who has spent their entire career without injury can maintain the level up to 40. Like Buffon or Neuer. Goalkeepers don’t need to run a lot, so they sometimes play until they are 40,” Kolyvanov told Metaratings.ru.

Lunev left Azerbaijani “Karabakh” in early June. Previously, he played for Bayer Leverkusen, Zenit St. Petersburg, Ufa, Saturn near Moscow and Torpedo Moscow.
