The head coach of Dynamo Kyiv shared his expectations from the qualifying match for the tournament.
Dynamo will compete in the Champions League qualification for all Ukrainians to reach the main round of the tournament. This was said at the pre-match press conference by the head coach of Kyiv Dynamo Mircea Lucescu.
In addition, the specialist noticed the level of the Austrian Sturm, and said that he did not expect an easy walk in the matches against the team from Graz, because the opponent has already started the championship, and he got a good tone of the game.
“It will not be an easy game for us. We expect a difficult match in the European tournament. The whole team understands what kind of match awaits us tomorrow – for the image of the country, for their popularity. Like you see, all teams playing in European competitions prepare very well, and participating in these tournaments is a great motivation for every player.
Sturm have managed to play two official matches in their championship, they have got into a competitive rhythm, and have an advantage over us. Our opponents are a very good team, with a good organization of the game, the players know what to do on the field. So it will not be easy for us.
Starting squad? No doubt, but I won’t tell you. You know, we play at home, but not really at home. It’s a shame that there are no Ukrainian journalists today – and it’s terrible. Tomorrow there will be a similar situation. There will be Ukrainian women and children in the stands, and men have no right to leave the country now and protect it. And we will fight on the field to get through the qualifications and play in the Champions League for them,” Lucescu was quoted by the Dynamo press service.
It will be remembered that the match Dynamo – Sturm will be held today, August 3, in the city of Lodz, Poland. The starting whistle will sound at 21:00 Kyiv time.
