Athletistic / Football. UEFA has decided to sanction the Serbian Football Union for the behavior of supporters during the first round match of the Euro 2024 group stage against England. The match took place on June 16 in Gelsenkirchen and ended with a victory for the British with a score of 1:0.
The Serbs were accused of “throwing objects on the field” as well as “transmitting a provocative message not in accordance with a sporting competition”. For the first violation, UEFA fined Serbia 4,500 euros and for the second an additional 10,000 euros.
On June 20, in its second match of the 2024 European Championship in Germany, the Serbian national team will face Slovenia. This meeting will take place in Munich at the Allianz Arena and will start at 4:00 p.m. Moscow time. In the final round of the group stage, the Serbs will face Denmark.
Note that the Serbian national team is participating in the final phase of the Euro for the first time in 24 years. The last time this team participated in the continental championship was in Yugoslavia.
