The midfielder received the award from UEFA for the best player of the match against Slovakia
Midfielder Ukrainian national team Nikolay Shaparenko commented on the victory over Slovakia in the second round of group E European Championship 2024.
“Run the longest distance in the match? How to win games while standing? Don’t think. I don’t care how much I ran, the most important thing is the result. This is all for the sake of your country, for the sake of the team. I’ll try to run like this every game.”
“We received deserved criticism for the last game with Romania (0:3). We accepted it, sorted out the mistakes and tried to do what we agreed on before the game. Play for results with dedication.”
“During the game, everything happens very quickly, you don’t have time to worry whether the forward will score or not. I saw that Roman made a good move – it was very lucky that the pass went through, the goalkeeper did not come out, and Yaremchuk scored the winning goal.”
“Let’s enjoy the victory for now, and then we will analyze the game of the Belgian national team. The coach will tell you how to play.”
Nikolai scored the debut goal of the Ukrainian national team at Euro 2024. Later, the midfielder passed the scoring pass to Roman Yaremchuk, who brought the blue-yellows victory. After the meeting, Shaparenko received an award from UEFA for the best player of the match.
The Ukrainian team scored three points and rose to second place in Group E. Another match of the second round of our quartet between Belgium and Romania will take place on June 22.
In the final round, Ukraine will play against Belgium, and Slovakia against Romania. Both matches will take place on June 26.
