Simons is 21 years old. It was named after Barcelona legend Xavi Hernandez. The footballer was brought up in the structure of the Catalan club from childhood, but at the age of 16 he left it and moved to PSG.

During the 2023/24 season, the young Dutchman played 43 matches with the Bulls, scored 10 goals and gave 15 assists. In April it was reported that Barcelona were interested in his return.
