The hosts saved themselves in stoppage time thanks to Füllkrug
Germany saved herself from defeat in a match with Switzerland in the third round of group A European Championship 2024 – 1:1.
Mannschaft, who had booked his way into the playoffs in advance, came out with the main squad, but clearly did not play at 100% of his capabilities. However, Robert Andrich opened the scoring thanks to a mistake from Jan Sommer. However, the goal was disallowed due to an attacking foul by Jamal Musiala.
Switzerland soon took the lead – Dan Ndoye converted Remo Freuler’s cross, avoiding offside by a few centimeters.
Murat Yakin’s team played an almost perfect match, allowing little to be created in front of their goal and occasionally running into dangerous counterattacks.
And yet, the Bundesteam achieved their goal – super sub Niklas Füllkrug headed in David Raum’s cross in stoppage time. Thus, Germany retained first place and will certainly receive an easier bracket in the playoffs. Switzerland finished in second place in the quartet.
