National team midfielder Germany Tony Kroos set a European Championship record for the number of accurate passes during the group stage of the tournament, the Opta portal reports.
In the three group stage matches against Scotland (5-1), Hungary (2-0) and Switzerland (1-1), Kroos completed 324 passes, more than any other player in the history of the EURO. The German beat his own record, set during the 2016 European Championship (323 precise passes).
In third place in the ranking is former Spain midfielder Xavi, author of 317 accurate passes during EURO 2012.
The German national team took first place in Group A and qualified for the EURO 2024 qualifiers. Kroos, 34, will retire after the end of the tournament.
