Argentina captain suffers right thigh muscle injury
Forward and captain Argentina national team Lionel Messi suffered an injury to the adductor muscle of his right thigh in the victorious match against Chile (1:0) in the group stage Copa America.
At the beginning of the first half, Messi felt discomfort, but managed to play through the game until the final whistle. Today Lionel will undergo further examination to determine the severity of his injury.
At the start of the Copa America, Lionel Messi has already become the author of two records – the largest number of matches played in the tournament, as well as participation in the record seventh Copa America tournament, which none of the Argentines had previously achieved.
Tonight, Argentina beat Chile (1:0) thanks to a goal from Lautaro Martinez, which allowed them to collect six points and secure their place in the playoffs. Lionel Scaloni’s team will play the final match of the group stage on the night of June 29-30 against Peru.
