The Ukrainian national team did not concede for the first time in a European Championship match

The blue-yellows managed to do it on the fourteenth attempt

Today’s match against Belgium became for Ukrainian national team historical. For the first time, the blue-and-yellows managed without conceding goals at the European Championships.

Previously, at four consecutive continental championships, our national team played 13 matches – and in each of them they could not keep a clean sheet. And finally, it happened – Anatoly Trubin entered his name into history, making four saves in the match with the Belgians.

It cannot be said that the Red Devils attacked too sharply and persistently – their final xG was about 0.8 goals. Ukraine has about the same number, with the difference that Rebrov’s team, unlike their opponents, was not satisfied with a draw. However, it happened in the end – 0:0.

In the parallel match, Slovakia and Romania predictably ended peacefully (1:1), and a unique situation arose in Quartet E – all teams scored the same number of points, four each. It was Rebrov’s team that turned out to be the fourth wheel due to the worst difference in goals scored and goals conceded (2:4).
